About the Owner

Leaps & Bounds opened in March of 2007. It is owned and operated by Camie Green. Camie has taught gymnastics, dance and cheerleading for 25 years and has extensive experience and training with all levels from pre-schoolers to competitive teams. She was the Elkhart YMCA Gymnastics & Dance Program Director and Management Staff Member from 1996-2003. In addition, Camie has a Physical Education degree from Indiana University as well as an Elementary Education endorsement from Western Michigan University and holds a valid MI teaching license. Camie was also a Special Education teacher for 2 years. Most importantly she loves and is dedicated to kids, gymnastics and teaching!

Camie has participated in numerous professional gymnastics, dance and cheerleading conferences and holds many professional certifications including: MELPD, PDP, Patti Komara Pre-school & Beginner Gymnastics Workshop (3 times), YMCA Gymnastics Instructor and Gymnastics Instructor Trainer, YMCA "Working with Children" Series (Ages 0-5, 5-9, 10-14, 15-18), USAG National, Regional and State Conferences (multiple times).

About Our Staff
The staff at Leaps & Bounds is among the most well-trained in the area! We make the professional development of our entire staff a top priority. Our comprehensive training program includes:

  • In-house spotting clinics
  • Hands-on training
  • Peer & mentor observation training
  • Red Cross CPR & First-Aid Certifications
  • Local, regional & national level clinics, seminars and conferences
  • Mentor Teacher Program- Each new staff member works directly under an experienced Master Teacher until we feel he/she is ready to lead classes independently. We want you and your child to have a fantastic experience at Leaps & Bounds!

About the Facility

  • Classes are held at 3410 CR 6 E, Unit 1, Elkhart, IN 46514.

  • Gymnastics features a floor-ex area, uneven bars, mini pre-school bars, 6" wide balance beams, 4" wide balance beams, trampoline, vault, pre-school slide, climbing rope, mini-climbing wall, and lots of wedges, trapezoids, octagons, manipulatives, and props that are useful in the skill learning process. Chairs are located throughout the gym for convenient parent observation.

  • Our dance studio-when completed- will feature a 600 sf floating dance floor to reduce the risk of potential injury to our students and teachers. Mounted mirrors the entire length of the floor allow everyone to help visually improve their dance skills. Ballet barres complete the dance studio. Our dance studio parents are encouraged to watch the progress of their little dancer from our in-classroom parent observation area.

  • Cheerleading classes take place either in the dance studio or in a separate floor-ex area.
